Petra Mälarholm has recently assumed the position of Country Manager for Diaverum Sweden. She joined the company in 2021 as HR Director for Sweden and Corporate IT and has since established herself as a strong leader within the organization.

With a background that includes senior HR roles in the healthcare sector, at organizations such as Team Olivia and FSB Gruppen, combined with leadership experience in the events and travel industries, Petra brings a broad and versatile skill set to her new role.

As Country Manager, she sees it as essential to provide high-quality renal care while also creating a safe and attractive working environment. According to Petra, the conditions provided to employees are directly linked to the quality of care Diaverum can offer. She highlights the importance of ensuring sufficient staffing and improving accessibility within the healthcare system.

In the short term, her priorities will center on three key areas: strengthening staffing and the work environment, enhancing the patient experience, and deepening collaboration with regional authorities. The goal is to ensure stable day-to-day care delivery while remaining attentive to the needs of both patients and staff:

"We want to ensure safe, continuous care every day, where both patients and employees feel heard and seen," says Petra Mälarholm.

In the long term, her ambition is for Diaverum Sweden to take an even more prominent role as an innovative and patient-centered provider of renal care. This includes driving digital development, introducing new working methods, and promoting greater equality and quality in care, regardless of where in the country a patient lives.

Petra also sees an important role for Diaverum on the international stage. The company is already contributing to more equitable access to care worldwide and partnering with public healthcare systems and research initiatives.

When it comes to collaboration, both within and outside of healthcare, Petra emphasizes the value of long-term partnerships based on transparency and shared learning:

"The future of healthcare demands more collaboration—not less. We must work together to best meet the needs of patients,"

The challenges in the Swedish healthcare system are many: staffing shortages, long waiting times, inefficiencies and regional inequalities, to name a few. Diaverum aims to address these issues through continued professional development, efficient dialysis processes, leading AI initiatives, increased accessibility, and strong partnerships—always with the patient's needs at the center.
